Pangu’s (盤古) Sacrifice


Pangu, the first man in existence, was so large and powerful that he single handedly separated the heavens from the Earth. Though his action made the world habitable and possible for things to develop and grow, he exhausted all of his energy and turned to stone while still holding the sky up. The world continues around him slowly forgetting about the remnants of his towering body.
In this project, through a combination of software, I will create a realistic depiction of this story based on the Chinese creation myth of Pangu.
With ZBrush, I will sculpt the model for Pangu to appear to be a giant sculpture thousands of feet tall.
I will model a temple that is dedicated to Pangu at his feet. The temple will be modeled completely in Maya.
All modeled assets will be textured using Substance Painter.
The landscape around the statue of Pangu will be created in Unreal Engine. The scene will also be assembled and lit in the Unreal Engine level.
Rigid Body Dynamics effects of the rocks crashing on the ground and the heightmaps for the landscape will be done in Houdini. They will then be exported into the Unreal Level with the rest of the scene.
